Why Data Privacy is important
On May 28th 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation came into force. It changed the way companies in the EU could and should deal with personal data.
Although there were before privacy laws applicable, this law made it impossible for EU companies to, without purpose and without limits, collect, file, analyse or transfer data from customers, suppliers, employees and applicants. If you do, the fines can be as high as EUR 20 million or 4% (whatever is the highest) of the annual turnover of the group! Prevent fines by learning about GDPR-regulation The best way to deal with personal data under the GPDR is to have and maintain a Privacy Program. Faber Group has such a Privacy Program in place. It is described in the Faber Data Protection Policy (to be found on the Intranet). With this program in place, Faber makes sure that the personal data of every third party and employee is handled with care and diligence throughout the group.
However, a program only works when you as an employee know the ins and outs of Data Privacy. Therefore an e-learning on the basics of Data Privacy was rolled out to each of you on May 28th 2024, the sixth anniversary of the GDPR. This e-learning teaches you all you need to know about personal data and the conditions under which you may process this data. Please complete the e-learning and learn about privacy regulations which are vital for our business.
If you have any questions related to Data Privacy, please contact the Privacy Coordinator of your Business Unit, to be found in Annex B of the Data Protection Policy.
